Foundations of USAID Contracting for NGOs

USAID’s contracting compliance framework is different than the regulations for grants and cooperative agreements. USAID contracting is governed by the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and AIDAR (USAID Supplemental Acquisition Regulations). Non-profit NGOs are discovering that USAID has significant funding for development and humanitarian objectives through the USAID contracting mechanism. Non-profits need to prepare their teams to understand the proposal process, contracting types, and the regulations before pursuing USAID contracts.

Our expert facilitators will provide comprehensive learning, practical tools and firsthand practice in these USAID contracting compliance requirements:

  • Fundamentals of the Request for Proposals (RFP) Business Development process

  • Contracting Risks to non-profits in contracting

  • Overview of the differences between contracts and cooperative agreements

  • USAID’s contracting structure and approach

  • The different types of contracts

  • Navigating and finding answers in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)

  • Understanding and applying the AIDAR requirements

  • Impact of the FAR and AIDAR on an organization’s existing policies and procedures
